Stop Posting Cheesy Holiday Content in 2023

We’ve all seen it. The corny stock photos. The bad graphics. The non-creative route for holiday content. Yes, we are judging 😂 Gone are the days we “need” to post a holiday graphic that says “happy holidays from our team to yours” just to stay relevant. It’s about to be 2023 and it’s time to make a change on how we create content for the holidays. This is a short guide of how to prepare and execute fun/relatable holiday content.

Let’s start back at the core of the creative process. An idea. Brainstorming. It’s easy to just see what everyone else is doing and copy that for yourself. There’s no right way to make holiday content for your company but let’s not fake company culture. Think about who your audience is and who’s going to engage with it. How do we make content that provides value and is relatable/digestable for them? Maybe it’s not a post that says, “happy holidays” but how can we incorporate what the holidays are about in a way that’s fun and creative. Think about your favorite things about the holidays. Maybe it’s making hot chocolate, giving gifts, making snow angels, your favorite holiday meals, riding sleds, shopping, Christmas movies…etc. It would be awesome if your team did a friendsgiving with gag gifts and you made a fun reel of their reactions. You get the idea. Start thinking outside the box and how you can make it inclusive and fun! Your team might actually enjoy it too.

After you have an idea, it’s time to start planning. Whether it’s with yourself or with your team – it’ll be efficient to plan ahead and get everyone on board. What do you need to take the photo or make the video. Maybe you need a specific location or props that will be used. Maybe it’s a comedy skit or using a specific sound on Tik Tok. Not everything needs planning but the more prepared you are the better. Spontaneous, organic content still works! Bringing your ideas to life is going to bring more fulfillment to you, your team and your company. You will find that the more thought you put into your content, the more your audience will notice and engage with the creativity behind it.

Alright, it’s time for you to create. You don’t need a fancy camera or design software to make relatable content. Your phone is perfect. Take advantage of the social platforms like Instagram and Tik Tok to be your resources too. Utilize stories and reels to your advantage. They are great tools to edit your videos and photos and then post them right away. There are other apps that you can use to spice up your content, you can read all about it in our other article here! Sometimes less is more. Coming up with ideas, using what you have access to, and having fun with it! Don’t overthink or complicate holiday content – sometimes it’s more about making your workplace fun and documenting it. In conclusion, generic holiday content is out and making authentic, human-relatable content is in. We want to connect with eachother on social media, not have our feeds filled with boring graphics. How are you going to change the social landscape this holiday? We hope that we prompted some helpful questions and processes that can boost your holiday content this year. Stay safe and happy holidays! We’ll see you next year 💝🎄
