Oceanfoam Spec Project: Behind the Scenes

What is Oceanfoam?

Recently, we had the opportunity to work on a spec project for Oceanfoam. Oceanfoam is a pioneering company on a mission to clean up our oceans and redefine active lifestyles. Their innovative approach involves harvesting algae from the ocean and transforming it into high-quality foam rollers, yoga mats, foam blocks, and so much more. By doing so, they're not only reducing plastic waste but also contributing to a healthier marine ecosystem.

Location, Location, Location!

Our spec project took place in the backyard of a stunning Edina, Minnesota home, with a luxurious backyard and a sparkling outdoor pool. This picturesque setting provided the perfect backdrop for showcasing Oceanfoam's products in a natural and inviting environment, while staying true to the Oceanfoam brand. With seven people on set, we were able to get all hands on deck to make this project perfect. Oceanfoam also provided a ton of products in different styles and colors to help us showcase their inventory in the best light!

Creative Techniques: Vintage Lenses and Underwater Shots

To capture the essence of Oceanfoam's products and the beauty of the natural world, we employed a variety of creative techniques. One of our most striking elements was the use of vintage lenses, which added a unique and nostalgic quality to the footage. These lenses slowed down our usual face paced workflow, but overall they added the perfect look to the shots, it really felt like we were creating movie magic. 

To achieve captivating underwater shots, we utilized a clear acrylic fish tank to house the camera. By carefully positioning the camera, we were able to capture the beauty of the pool and the model in a unique and immersive way. While this technique presented some challenges, such as maintaining water clarity and ensuring the camera's safety, the results were well worth the effort. It is such an affordable hack to capture amazing shots!

Talent

Our project featured two talented models who brought the story of Oceanfoam to life. Their natural charisma and ability to connect with the camera made a significant impact on the overall quality of the video. Huge shoutout to Jered and Alisha for making our vision come to life!

Thanks to the combination of a beautiful location, creative techniques, and talented models, our spec project for Oceanfoam was a resounding success.
